Maggi Hambling's (b.1945) museum exhibitions include, more recently, the National Portrait Gallery (1983 & 2009), The Hermitage, St Petersburg, Russia (2013), The National Gallery, London (2014), The British Museum, London (2016), Hastings Contemporary, Hastings (2018), CAFA Beijing, China (2019) and Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou, China (2019). The Jerwood Gallery (2018), CAFA Art Museum, Beijing (2019), Gainsborough’s House (2023), Museo Ettore Fico, Turin, Italy (2023). Hambling’s work is held in many important private and public collections including in the UK Tate, National Portrait Gallery, British Museum and, outside the UK, CAFA, Beijing, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Public sculpture includes A conversation with Oscar Wilde, London, Scallop (for Benjamin Britten), Aldeburgh beach, The Brixton Heron, London, and A Sculpture for Mary Wollstonecraft, London. Hambling’s latest series of paintings, Maelstrom, will be shown at Frankie Rossi Art Projects in London 5 October- 24 November. Hambling was awarded a CBE in 2010.

Terms and Conditions: Please note all works will be available for collection from Wednesday 8 November 2023 at Freedom from Torture offices, 111 Isledon Road, London N7 7JW. The artwork will be safely stored, free of charge until Friday 15 December 2023. Alternatively, Freedom from Torture can help organise national and international delivery of artworks through a third party, to the winner. The winning bidder will be responsible for all delivery costs and will be invoiced directly by the third party.
