Born in Chelmsford, Essex in 1960, Grayson Perry is a great chronicler of contemporary life, drawing us in with wit, affecting sentiment and nostalgia as well as, at times, fear and anger. In his work, Perry tackles subjects that are universally human: identity, gender, social status, sexuality, religion. He has presented major solo exhibitions at institutions including National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh; The National Museum, Oslo; Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht, Netherlands and The Serpentine Galleries, London. Exhibitions curated by the artist include the include the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, London and The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman, British Museum. Winner of the 2003 Turner Prize, he was elected a Royal Academician in 2012 and in 2022, Perry was made a Knight Bachelor for services to the arts in the King’s New Year Honours list 2023

The artwork will be safely stored, free of charge until Friday 15 December 2023. Alternatively, Freedom from Torture can help organise national and international delivery of artworks through a third party, to the winner. The winning bidder will be responsible for all delivery costs and will be invoiced directly by the third party.
