Patrick Hughes was born in 1939. His exhibition in 1961 was the first solo show by a British Pop Artist. He taught at Leeds College of Art in the 1960s. Hughes is known for his Reverspective paintings. The see-er moving in front of the works creates the illusion that the paintings are moving from side to side and up and down. “My pictures involve us physically, neurologically, emotionally, imaginatively, in creating an original experience we make ourselves.” Hughes has had more than a hundred solo shows at galleries and museums around the world and his work is held in many public collections including The Tate Gallery, The British Council, The Victoria and Albert Museum, The British Library, Glasgow Museum of Modern Art, The British Academy, Northeast University, Boston, Baker Museum, Florida and the Würth Museum, Kunzelsau. reverspective.com
